Breaking: Anambra State Government To Pay The New Minimum Wage

Anambra State government has undertaken to pay the new national minimum wage.

Governor Willie Obiano who made the pronouncement at the 2019 Public Service Day celebration announced that his administration will also increase workers’ salary as the state’s internally generated revenue (IGR) increases.

Governor Obiano reminded workers that his administration increased workers salary in 2015 without prompting.

The Worker’s day celebration held at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka had in attendance members of the State Exco, chairmen of statutory Commissions, college of Permanent secretaries, committee of directors, heads of parastatals, departments and agencies as well as Anambra workers.

Highpoint was when Anambra State government undertook to sponsor the education of a child from Mbaukwu who lost her parents and five others to fire outbreak. The sponsorship is to University level.

A cheque was presented to her, to be undertaken by Archbishop Alexander Ibezim.

Awards were also given to deserving public servants.
