The Chief Medical Director of the Onitsha Zonal Specialist Hospital, Dr. Ebelechukwu Anugwu revealed that the regular funds provided by the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency has been of great help to the hospital in planning ahead and in the procurement of some essential hospital equipment.
Dr. Anugwu made this known when the I-WITNESS CREW visited her office to ascertain the level of support and how welcoming the scheme has been in the commercial city of Onitsha.
She said; ” arguably, this hospital has the largest number of enrollees in the state. We are big partners of the Agency and has an ASHIA/NHIS dedicated desks to promptly attend to the issues of every enrollee.
“The Agency provides us with funds monthly in which we use in paying the medical bills of ASHIA beneficiaries who are duly registered and have accessed healthcare services at the specialist Hospital”
She further buttressed her point by saying that the regular in flow of funds from the Agency has availed the Hospital of the opportunity in procuring some essential hospital equipment like Orthopaedic mattresses, Gloves, beds, drugs etc.
She concluded by saying that Gov. Willie Obiano has given ndi Anambra life when he established the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency.
Also interviewed was a civil servant, Mr Uzokwe Gregory with the Anambra State Civil Service who narrated how stress free it was to register with the Agency.
He went further by explaining to the crew that he actually came to the Hospital with his wife who is an indirect beneficiary of ASHIA healthcare services because he is an enrollee.
He thanked Gov. Willie Obiano for establishing the Agency pointing that since he got enrolled under the scheme, he has got nothing to worry about especially health wise because all exorbitant hospital bills are been taking care of as one is expected to pay just 10% of the total cost of healthcare services accessed by a beneficiary.
