The Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano today inspected two ongoing road projects (Abatete 2.455 km, Idemili North LGA and Okpuno -Urum -Amanuke -Achalla Road in Awka North LGA, which is about 15.9km with a 20m Bridge).
Speaking during the inspections, the governor appreciated the pace and quality of works done on both projects while urging the contractors to speedy up and ashphalt the roads before heavy rainfall begins. In his words to the contractors, “You must asphalt these roads in the coming weeks”.
Gov Obiano who was accompanied to the project sites by the Honourable Commissioner for Works, Engr Marcel Ifejiovor and the Director General of Anambra Project Monitoring and Management Office, Engr Mike Ogbuekwe, said that the roads were important to the state as they linked many agrarian communities of Abatete, Alor, Isu Aniocha, Urum, Amanuke and Achalla respectively. He said that when completed, the roads will foster integration amongst the communities and ensure that the farm produce from these towns get to the larger markets of Awka, Onitsha and other places.
In his earlier remarks at the Okpuno-Achalla road and bridge construction, Chief Leo Ike Okoye, the MD/CEO of Grandstar Construction Company handling the project, thanked Gov Obiano for his strong political WILL as exhibited in managing the road project which he said is costing the state huge resources to build. He promised to deliver the project as directed by the governor.
