Governor Willie Obiano says his government is committed to addressing the erosion challenges ravaging parts of Obosi Community.
The Governor made this known when he attended a Holy Mass at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Iba Pope, Awada in Obosi Community.
The mass was attended by Governor Obiano and his wife, Chief Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano to mark their 30th Wedding Anniversary.
It also marked the pastoral visit of the Archbishop and Metropolitan, Onitsha Catholic Province, Most Reverend Valerian Okeke to the Parish.
Governor Obiano who said his government has attracted the World Bank’s partnership to tackle some of the erosion challenges in Obosi, reminded the residents that his government is mindful of their plight and is working to address them.
He also said his government has made a case to the Federal Government through the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, to assist the State find lasting solution to the environmental problem.
The Governor also noted that his government has awarded some roads in the community, urging the people to be patient as major works will commence on them after the rains.
He commended the parishioners for keeping up the faith and assured that on his personal capacity, he will continue to support the church.
In a homily, the Archbishop, Most Reverend Okeke reminded Christians of the need to put off all appearances of unholiness and worship God in spirit and in truth so as to gain the heavenly reward.
He further urged children of God not to be swayed by material things which are ephemeral but to seek spiritual gifts.
Governor Obiano and his wife later proceeded after the mass, to commission a chapel they built for the parishioners.
