Nigeria’s Vice-President, Professor Yemi Osibanjo was earlier today welcomed to Imo State by the outgoing governor of Imo State, His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha and some members of the Imo State expanded exco chamber and other political leaders in the State.

Osibanjo who was billed to commission about 50 completed projects initiated and completed by the outgoing Rescue Mission administration was only able to commission a few of the projects as he showered encomiums on the governor, while congratulating the people of Imo State for enjoying the gift of such a visionary and people oriented leader like Owelle Rochas Okorocha.

He especially praised the magnificent Heroes Square, where statues of some notable world leaders were erected by the governor and advocated for such idea should be implemented at the national level, in order to serve as a way to appreciate and celebrate notable leaders who have impacted positively on the society. He craved that he will one day have his own statue erected at the square.

Speaking about his impression over the governor’s developmental strides in the last eight years, the Nigerian Vice-President commended the governor for not being noisy about his achievements in projects, regretting that most of the projects done by the governor are not known to the public. In his words;

“I have gone round the state on several occasions to look at so many projects that the governor has done. As a matter of fact, on one occasion, we went to see one of the Universities that he had just completed. When I went round that University Complex, I realized that there is simply no other University that has the kind physical facilities like that University has, at least in the history of Nigeria”.

He enjoined other Nigerian leaders, the media and the general public not to allow the projects of His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha to lie to be forgotten;“So, I felt that it’s very important to recognize what His Excellency has done in these past 8 years. He is extremely commendable and I don’t know like many others, that have done the amount of work especially in infrastructure that he has done, Schools, hospitals etc. I’ve also commissioned hospital premises of the Airforce, the Police and others like them at 3 or 4 places. A lot of these projects like he said are not advertised or published in any way”.

He expressed surprise that the governor who is known for his oratorical powers, has curiously kept quiet about his numerous achievements in the area of infrastructures and other areas, but remarked, that it is a sign of a his commendable leadership potentials. According to the vice president;“I’ve always found him very strange. I must say so because he’s otherwise someone who is not quiet but decided to keep quiet about his achievements. I’ve not been able to understand that because anybody who knows him will not say he’s a quiet man. I want to say that he has done extremely well in this past 8 years and sometimes his contemporaries will chose to make loud noise for very few they have achieved”.

Some of the projects inaugurated by the Vice-President, include, the Imo State Exhibition Center, Owerri, the Sam Mbakwe road, four Specialist Hospitals out of 27, built, the Imo State Governor’s Lodge, Odenigbo Guest House, etc.
