The Executive Governor, Willie Obiano has embacked on unscheduled tour of all on going projects being executed by his administration, that includes roads infrastructure, health facilities, installation of mechanized agricultural equipment, installation of street lights, reequipping security agencies and many others that form key electioneering promises to ndi Anambra.
The governor had assured the citizens that his second term will be much better because he was poised to execute more life enhancing projects for them in appreciation of the confidence, trust and love they reposed in him through their massive electoral support.
This patriotic move by the governor was to restore the people’s confidence in governance and to reassure Ndi Anambra that so many goodies are coming as they have done to him.
Gov Obiano used the opportunity to pass his words of honor to Ndi Anambra that he will never betray their trust and confidence.
The projects tour took the governor to various sites across the state, including Ogboji road, Uli road, Ihiala road, Nteje road, Umueri road, Igbariam road, and the Nando road -by SARS Awkuzu, Others were the UNIZIK-Ifite Awka road, Amichi/Osumenyi road, Awada Obosi roads, Ukpo/Abagana road, Onitsha roads and environs.
The governor also visited and inspected the irrigation project at Ogbaru, Ihiala, Ogboji and Ifite Ogwari amongst others.
Gov Obiano while addressing the people during these visits assured that the roads and all other projects shall be completed before the rains season set in.
On the Amichi road which was awarded in April, 2014 but had the challenge of a major gully erosion that cut it into two before the intervention of the State government intervened, the governor observed that the gully menace had been fully controlled while earthwork has been achieved on a reasonable length with asphalting and installation of streetlights presently going on.
Assessing his observations after the inspection exercise, Gov Obiano said the road remains very important as it provides a diversion from the very busy major roads around the area, adding that with its completion, the area would be permanently saved from erosion challenges.
He expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done so far, except for the thickness of the asphalt work which he said the contractor had taken note of and promised to address.
The executive of the contracting firm handling the project, Mr Sylvester Onwuzulike said they were heeding the directive of the state government to deliver a quality job that would stand the test of time commended the overwhelming support of the governor that has helped them surmount the challenges they encountered in the course of their operations.
The governor also inspected launching of cross beams on a bridge along SARS Awkuzu -Abube Nando road under construction.
The 4.5 kilometer road was awarded by his administration and about 4.2 km stretch have already been asphalted, remaining about 300 meters around the bridge area.
Gov Obiano who spoke after the beams launch, said the road is a major one that opens up agrarian communities of Anambra North and other parts of the area designated for real estate development.
He explained that the visit was to see whether the contractor was living up to terms with respect to the funds released by his administration and expressed satisfaction that work was in top gear at the site.
In Anaku, an investor Dr Comas Maduka, the Chief Executive of the Coscharis Farms Ltd commended Gov Obiano for his genuine commitment towards making the state economically viable, secure, stable and on the right part of progress.
Also at Nteje, Roland Odegbo described Obiano as a man of integrity, who has devoted his life as sacrifice for the betterment of society and thanked him for road project in the area.
The member representing Dunukofia State Constituency, Bar Lawrence Ezeudu thanked Gov Obiano for matching his words with action in fulfilling his promise to complete the Ukpo-Ifitedunu-Abagana road before the rains set in.
Hon Kingsley Iruba also eulogized the governor for his uncommon character of honour, which he has continued to exhibit in governance of the state, and taking leadership to another different direction that has restored hope and confidence of the people back to government.
Member representing Anambra East constituency in the state Assembly, Mr Obinna Emenaka said people of the area were now reaping the dividends of good governance which they enthroned with their votes, adding that when completed, the roads would have a pronounced positive effect on the economy of the areas.
The contractor handling the project, Igwe Ben Emeka thanked Governor Obiano for giving them the opportunity to showcase what they can do in the state and for keeping its own part of the agreement with respect to provision of funds, assuring that they will deliver the projects before the next rains.
Some natives of Nando, Mr Ezenwa Adukwe and Mr Lawrence Ejimofor expressed immense joy at what the State government has done, prayed God to grant the governor more wisdom to continue to steer the affairs of the state to greater heights. Willie is working.
