In his bid to give back to society that moulded him, the Senior Special Assistant to Anambra State Governor on Youth Mobilization), Hon. Henry Akubuike, recently purchased University Matriculation Examination (UME) forms of the Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) to indigent students of Enugwu-Ukwu, in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, who cleared their papers.
The students, Fides gathered, cleared such subjects as Maths and English but could not afford to purchase the forms.
The presenting the forms to the beneficiaries in his palace,the traditional ruler of Enugwu Ukwu, Igwe Sir Obumnemeh Ekpeh, said twenty persons were drawn from various villages, noting that they would be enrolled in extra mural classes with stipends to ensure they were well prepared for the exams.
Ekpeh used the opportunity to call on other well meaning indigenes of the land to borrow a leaf from Hon. Akubuike and contribute their quota in giving back to society.
The royal Father who was moved by the gesture, poured encomiums on Akubuike, emphasizing that he was very sure that it was not that Akubuike had too much money to play around with but was motivated by his zeal to propel the youths to a vantage height.
‘He was appointed into government as a result of his doggedness in mobilizing the youths in the community and his works earned him recommendation into government and now he has come to enrich others,’ he said
Igwe Ekpeh prayed for a successful result in the forth coming examination. ‘You should not worry over who would foot the bill if you pass but concentrate on getting excellent results and leave the rest for Providence, he charged the beneficiaries.
Addressing Newmen shortly after the presentation, the sponsor, Hon. Akubuike said he was giving back to society that made him, even as he said he owed his political breakthroughs in life to His Majesty Igwe Ralph Ekpeh and Sen. Abana.
‘I just want to ensure that these youths get the basic education to help place them rightfully in society in the nearest future.
‘it is worthy of note to recall that in the just concluded Enugwu Ukwu Colossium that was part of the programme that heralded the annual “Igu Aro” Enugwu Ukwu na Umunri, about nine first class students were honoured with a token of 20,000 and was financed by me,’ he concluded.
For his part, Amb.Chijioke Okoye Mbuba, an Enugwu-Ukwu Youth Ambassador encouraged the beneficiaries to look beyond the Jamb forms and see God working and trust him to perfect what he had started giving himself as an example. ‘When God is set to doing something, he does it his ways and makes every necessary provision,’ he said.
Contributing, Her Majesty Lady Dora Ekpeh, a retired Secondary School Principal urged the beneficiaries not to make light of this gesture but make most of the golden opportunity. “Go and make us proud with excellent results.’
One of the beneficiaries Nwaokolo Evelyn in her response, thanked the benefactor for extending his kindness to them and assured him that they would put in their best to come out in flying colours. Among the beneficiaries is a Special Person, Anakwe paul (dumb) with sign language showed appreciation and thanked the benefactor immensely.
Mr Anaekee one of the parents of the beneficiaries in a vote of thanks, appreciated the timely intervention received which inadvertently saved many of the parents from worries and high blood pressure and prayed that God would take Akubuike to greater heights as he serve his people.
