The internal wrangling in APC Imo state against the choice of Uche Nwosu the son-in-law to gov Rochas Okorocha to pick APC ticket is getting out of hand.
Yesterday at Nworubi area of Mbaitolu LGA, the supporters of the Deputy Governor, Eze Madumere and that of Uche Nwosu clashed.
Mbaitolu LGA is where the deputy governor, Madumere, who shown interest to succeed his boss hails from.
But Uche Nwosu political structure known as “I believe Movement,” went to Nworubi yesterday and gathered everyone in a smart move to endorse him for 2019 governorship election.
It was gathered by AIF Media that the pro Nwosu group had sent text messages, inviting members of the public to the gathering without stating their agenda.
As the meeting began, the Uche Nwosu group started shouting, Mbaitolu for Uche Nwosu, while the people present shouted Eze Madumere for governor.
This led to a serious melee. The Nwosu group started assaulting the indigenes who were supporting their son, Madumere, throwing stones and bottles at them. The indigenes had to call for reinforcement which led to a bloody clash.
Mbaitolu youths regrouped, moved to the hall and chase the pro Nwosu group away. Some members of the ‘I Believe Movement”, AIF Media gathered, ran home half naked as the youths overpowered them.
Many sustained varying degrees of injury.
The political environment in Imo state is charged.
